Vignesh Shivan goes missing on Twitter: The filmmaker deactivated his X handle days after he appeared in a roundtable interview that invited massive backlash against him. This also comes at the same time when his wife and actress Nayanthara is involved in a heated legal battle with Dhanush over a copyright dispute. The news of his absence from X has left Reddit with thoughts.
The filmmaker recently appeared at the Galatta Plus Mega Pan India Directors¡¯ Round Table 2024 where his credibility and statements, were criticised heavily. Many noted that neither his last film Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022) was a pan-India project nor his upcoming Love Insurance Kompany (2025) fit into the pan-Indian category.
Another section of the internet called him out for claiming Ajith Kumar appreciated his film Naanum Rowdy Dhan (2015) in his appreciation note for Yennai Arindhaal (2015). The netizens scratched their head thinking that if Yennai Arindhaal was released more than 7 months before Naanum Rowdy Dhan, how could Ajith Kumar see it so early and make its mention??
One user wrote, ¡°Seems the fairytale backfires the glossy couple.¡± Someone quipped, ¡°We can have Another Netflix show like "Nayanthara's Husband...". believe me. It will go on hiits¡¡± Someone else added, ¡°So much hatred on Twitter even he couldn¡¯t handle sad ufff.¡± Another one joked, ¡°Chill guys he logged in from nayanthara veiryan account to help with the D's issue.¡±
Vignesh going off X comes as he along with his wife, their production house, Rowdy Pictures Private Limited, and two others deal with a civil lawsuit filed against them by Dhanush. The actor who produced their film Naanum Rowdy Dhan claims that three-second footage from the movie was used in the Netflix docu-film Nayanthara: Beyond Fairytale without his permission.
The actress in return claims that the clip was recorded on her phone keeping it non-copyrighted by Dhanush. Read the entire controversy here!
