India is all set to celebrate its 77th Independence Day (Swatantrata Diwas) on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.?On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from Delhi's iconic Red Fort.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the country in celebrating the 77th Independence Day from the iconic Red Fort in Delhi on Tuesday. As part of the celebrations, A total of 50 nurses along with their family members from across the country have been invited as Special Guests to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi¡¯s Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Tuesday.

According to the government, they will be part of 1800 special guests from various walks of life, ranging from Sarpanches of Vibrant Villages, teachers, farmers, and fishermen, who have been invited to participate in the Independence Day Celebrations at the iconic monument on August 15, 2023.
The initiative to invite people from all walks of life, across India, and be a part of the celebrations has been taken by the Government in line with its vision of ¡®Jan Bhagidari¡¯.
These Special Guests invited to attend the celebrations at Red Fort include over 400 Sarpanches of more than 660 vibrant villages; 250 from Farmer Producer Organisations scheme; 50 participants each of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
This year¡¯s Independence Day will culminate the ¡®Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav¡¯ celebrations, which were launched by the Prime Minister from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021, and will, once again, usher the country into ¡®Amrit Kaal¡¯ with renewed vigour to realise Narendra Modi¡¯s dream of making India a developed country by 2047.

These special guests include over 400 sarpanches of more than 660 villages; 250 from Farmer Producer Organisations' scheme; 50 participants each of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana; 50 Shram Yogis (construction workers) of the Central Vista Project, including the new Parliament building; 50 each Khadi workers, those involved in construction of border roads, making of Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana as well as 50 each primary school teachers, nurses and fishermen.
PM Modi is likely to address the nation at 7:30 AM after he unfurls the Indian national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi.?
To watch the Independence Day 2023 celebrations online, viewers can visit the Indiatimes YouTube Channel, which will be live-streaming the celebrations beginning at 6:30 AM.
?The Government of India also broadcasts the Independence Day celebrations live on its official social media platforms.
The flag hoisting ceremony for the 77th Independence Day will be followed by singing the national anthem and a 21-cannon salute to pay respect to freedom fighters. There will also be a march past by soldiers and armed forces. If you are wishing to watch the activities of Independence Day 2023, you can watch it live on Doordarshan.
TV channel Doordarshan will live telecast the 77th Independence Day Parade on the DD National. The broadcasting will begin at 6.30 AM on 15 August.
- PM Modi will be greeted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries at Red Fort.
- The Defence Secretary will introduce the General Officer Commanding (GoC), Delhi Area, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth to the Prime Minister.
- The GoC Delhi Area will then conduct Shri Narendra Modi to the Saluting Base where a combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard will present general salute to the Prime Minister.
- Thereafter, the Prime Minister will inspect the Guard of Honour.
- The Guard of Honour contingent for the Prime Minister will consist of one officer & 25 personnel each from the Army, Air Force &Delhi Police and one officer & 24 personnel from the Navy.
- After inspecting the Guard of Honour, the Prime Minister will proceed to the ramparts of the Red Fort where he will be greeted by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. The GoC, Delhi area will conduct the Prime Minister to the dais on the ramparts to unfurl the National Flag.
- After being unfurled, the Tricolour will receive a ¡®Rashtriya Salute¡¯. The Army band, consisting of one JCO and 20 Other Ranks, will play the National Anthem during the unfurling of the National Flag and presenting of the ¡®Rashtriya Salute¡¯. The Band will be conducted by Naib Subedar Jatinder Singh.
- As soon as the National Flag is unfurled by the Prime Minister, flower petals will be showered at the venue by two Advanced Light Helicopters Mark-III Dhruv of the Indian Air Force in the Line Astern Formation. The captains of the helicopter will be Wing Commander Amber Agarwal and Squadron Leader Himanshu Sharma.
- After the showering of flower petals, the Prime Minister will address the Nation.
