Did you ever imagine that one day we will be forced to stay inside our homes??
It has just been over a couple of weeks at home. We all want to step out and do the normal routine things that we used to -- shake hands/hug our friends, share meals and drinks, and just go out to meet our loved ones. There are so many regular things that we cannot do!?
On the positive side, the lockdown has come with a strange side-effect that is bringing us closer to people more than ever.
Those days when family time was more exciting than parties at pubs and clubs; when we would sit together and watch TV shows in the living room and won¡¯t ¡®Netflix and chill¡¯ in our respective rooms; when we used to enjoy little moments like sharing jokes and didn¡¯t have to deal with anxiety and depression in isolation.?
So, how are you making the most of your time while staying at home? While this time is taking away a lot of things from us including the simple pleasures of life, it is at the same time, giving us an opportunity to find harmony and peace that has been somewhat missing for many of us.?
Here¡¯s how life in the coronavirus lockdown has brought a little positive change in our lives by giving us a chance to hit pause to our routine life and instead go back into the past and relive the childhood memories all over again!
This is the simplest of all things that we had stopped doing over the time. Do you even remember when you last sat on the dining table and ate with your entire family? For most of us who are locked down with families, those days are back!?
Do you also feel that you talk about your life a bit more with your family now? Similarly, they share about their work and friends too.
Now that the maids are on leave, we all work together. From sweeping and mopping the floor to doing the dishes, we are helping each other, mostly willingly.
You understand your family better now. You know much more about their lives than you did before. You discuss simple things like news; you share jokes and laugh a little more together.?
That¡¯s what your parents/spouse always wanted, right? The downside, or let¡¯s call it the good side, of lockdown is that you cannot order food at home. So, mostly you¡¯re eating Ghar Ka Khana, which is comparatively healthy. Also, we are mostly eating on time.
When you are forced to do something, you just don¡¯t want to do that, right? Amid this house-arrest sort of a situation, the only option left to you to pass your time is OTT platforms, but how much time will you spend doing that? It gets exhausting after a while.
Aren¡¯t you playing online/board games with your friends and family already? If not, you should try that! It¡¯s so much fun and you also get to relive your childhood memories.?
Doordarshan has brought the golden era of TV back. With shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat and Shaktiman making a comeback, the nostalgia is hitting all of us hard. Families, now, sit together to watch these old ¡®90s shows.
You understand them better. You have some control over your anger now, don¡¯t you feel? Of course, you still argue sometimes, but you have seemingly accepted them and their beliefs. Also, you want to be there for them, because you know they are going through a tough phase too.
Now that you cannot order food online, you¡¯re experimenting with different recipes at home. It¡¯s time to flaunt your cooking skills.
Why wait for this lockdown period to get over when you can also have fun at home?
Now that we cannot step out of your house to smoke, some of us have even quit, especially those who kept this habit a secret. Some of us have massively cut down on cigarettes.
We didn¡¯t have much time for them earlier, did we? Now they are probably getting more time and attention from you. Let¡¯s make sure that they are safe and healthy too by ensuring that one person from the family takes them out for walks.?
You can¡¯t step out of your home, but you can sit on your balconies or lawns and gaze at the clear blue sky, breathe in some fresh air and spot the constellations too.?
Remember those school days when you used to make calls to your classmates via landline and gossip for hours? Now you do that with your colleagues.
If ¡®don¡¯t have time for exercise¡¯ was your excuse, you¡¯re probably waking up early in the morning and doing some yoga at home.?
A lot of people are learning to play musical instruments online via tutorials. Others are devoting more time to do what they like. For instance, even Salman Khan is spending his self-quarantine time to sketch and paint. Everyone is seemingly pursuing their hobbies again.
Friends and family you probably hadn¡¯t spoken with in a long time have reached out on social media or phone calls to ask you if you¡¯re doing okay. Stretching from the modern day to high school era, you¡¯re catching up with a lot of old friends, aren¡¯t you?
You have more time to yourself and your thoughts. This house arrest time can be used to self-introspect.
You¡¯ve finally understood that life should be great and not long!?Let¡¯s all make it an attempt to make life great everyday.
