GPS Renewables was founded in the year 2012 by two IIM-B graduates ¨C Mainak Chakraborty and Sreekrishna Sankar with the objective of solving the menace of waste that is rapidly growing and polluting the environment.??
Mainak spoke exclusively to Indiatimes regarding the fundamental challenges, solutions and his vision in the biofuel sector.?
We asked Mainak if chicken poop and weeds can be converted into fuel? And he said yes. "Not just be converted into fuel, one can also make money out of it. Not just these two things, wet waste, stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana can be used as biofuel."
On asking Mainak if this was always his dream, to do something around sustainability, he said, "I grew up in Mizoram and and the level of civic sense in North East is generally very high. People have a lot of respect for the environment and like to keep their surroundings clean."
