In an Indian household, food is the ultimate expression of love and care! Most of us equate sweets with something auspicious be it Diwali, Holi or any other special occasion, no festival is complete without the perfect sweet. Since this year the Rakhi festival is coinciding with Sawan Somwar, we're sure all those who are fasting must be disheartened that they'll miss their favourite treat. Don't worry, here are 3 delicious desserts you can make at home in under 10 minutes to pamper your sibling even if they are fasting!
Recipe for homemade sweets for Rakhi

1) Rasmalai Barfi
Ingredients:
200 gm fresh malai paneer
1 cup milk powder
4 tbsp powdered sugar
2 tbsp ghee
few threads of saffron
chopped almonds and pistachios
dry rose petals
yellow food colour (optional)
Instructions:
- Cut the paneer into small cubes and blend it in a food processor to make a paste.
- In a non-stick pan, combine the paneer paste, ghee, and powdered sugar until you get a smooth mix.
- Place the plan on a low flame and cook the mix while stirring continuously for about 2-3 minutes and then add milk powder.
- Keep cooking the mix until it thickens and starts to leave the pan.
- Once you get a dough-like consistency add saffron and a few drops of food colour and mix thoroughly.
- Grease a container lined with parchment paper and garnish it with chopped nuts and dry rose petals.
- Transfer the paneer mix into the container, spread it into an even 2-inch thick layer and keep it in the refrigerator for a few hours to set.
- Cut into pieces and enjoy!

2) Coconut ladoo
Ingredients:
2 cups fresh/desiccated coconut
1.5 cups milk
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
chopped cashews
Instructions:
- Place a heavy bottom pan on a low flame and add 2 coconut, milk and sugar.
- Cook the mixture while continuously stirring for about 20 minutes until the sugar completely melts and you achieve a crumbly-textured mix that's smooth to the touch.
- Then add cardamom powder and cashews and mix well to combine.
- Set the mix aside and let it cool.
- Once cooled, form small balls or laddoos from the mix and roll them into desiccated coconut.
- Garnish with more chopped cashews and serve!

3) Kaju Katli
Ingredients:
2 cups cashews
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp ghee
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
edible silver foil
Instructions:
- Blend cashews into a fine powder using a food processor and sift the powder to make sure there are no lumps.
- In a pan, add sugar and water and make a smooth simple syrup after boiling the mix for about 5 minutes.
- Now add powdered cashews and cook while consistently stirring. Combine the cashews with the simple syrup until a smooth paste is formed.
- Add ghee and cardamom powder to the paste and cook until the mix starts to separate from the pan.
- Transfer the mix to a greased pan and fold in the mixture until a smooth dough is formed.
- Shift the soft dough to a greased and butter-paper-lined flat surface and roll the dough using a rolling pin.
- Grease the dough again with ghee and apply the edible foil.
- Cut into diamond-shaped pieces and serve!
