Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the EVP- Electric Vehicle Policy aimed at reducing pollution levels in the national capital and to generate more employment. Calling the policy most progressive, Kejriwal also said that the financial assistance up to 1.5 Lakh will be provided to people on the purchase of electric vehicles.?
CM Kejriwal launched the 'Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy¡¯ under which his government will waive registration fee and road tax and will also provide incentives up to 1.5 Lakh for the new cars in the national capital.?
He said that the policy aims at boosting the economy, creating more job opportunities and reducing pollution levels.
Under the policy, the Delhi government will give an incentive of up to 30,000 for two-wheeler vehicles, autos and e-rickshaws in addition to four-wheelers.
"After launching this policy, we expect five lakh new electric vehicles in the next five years. The Delhi government will set up a dedicated 'EV Cell' to implement 'electric vehicle policy", Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal also added that the government will also set up a ¡®State Electric Vehicle Board¡¯.

Delhi has 83,730 electric vehicles out of over 11 million vehicles registered in the city. Of the 83,730 registered EVs, there are 75,567 e-rickshaws. There are only 908 private electric cars and 3,703 e-two-wheelers in Delhi.
