Two hockey players were allegedly murdered in Jharkhand, according to the police on October 19. Their bodies were recovered in the village of Khursuta in Gumla and they had injury marks. A probe is on after being initiated by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.??
They were allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon. Soren has instructed the DCP and SP of Gumla district to investigate.?
It was revealed when locals in Khursuta spotted the bodies and could identify them. They are Vinod Ekka and Rahul Tirkey.?
Ekka worked at a cashew nut plant in Goa and came home in February. Tirkey worked in Delhi and had returned March after the lockdown was announced, Hindustan Times reported. On October 17, Tirkey left home saying he was going for a party with friends. But he did not return. Ekka went to play hockey in Kanchora and was not seen again either. Both were then found dead.?
"My brother was a very good hockey player. He was a very good goalkeeper and participated in the hockey tournament. My brother and Rahul went to play hockey in Kanchora village, around five kilometres from the village," said Veronica Ekka, Vinod's sister.?
Police are probing the stories to find out exactly what happened. ??
