A 24-year-old man from sector 27 in Noida started focusing more on its news anchors than the news itself as he stalked a female news anchor from a media company by making multiple accounts.
The Times of India reported that a man who goes by the name, Gulshan Kashyap is a resident of Gurgaon and a third-year student of B.Sc at Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana.
The accused was arrested by police officials for stalking the anchor on social media and posting objectionable comments on her profile. He was identified from his social media account and IP addresses that were used by him.
The anchor then filed a complaint alleging that the man had been sending her messages and harassing her since January, informed SHO of Sector 20 police station, Manoj Pant. Pant said that the complainant first noticed Kashyap¡¯s message on January 12, 2018, on Twitter following which they had some heated dispute and the anchor blocked him on social media.
Later, the accused messaged her that he was in love with her and wanted to marry her. He was turned down by the complainant. Kashyap later reached her office and attempted to meet her several times but he was stopped by the security guards.
Kashyap told TOI that he was blocked after the duo had an argument over the release of Padmaavat movie. He admitted that after being blocked her on Twitter, he messaged her on Twitter by creating 15 fake profiles on Facebook, 10 on Instagram and even used a friend¡¯s profile to contact her.
An FIR has been registered against Kashyap under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the IPC and under Section 66 of the IT Act.
