With nine new fresh cases recorded on Tuesday in the states of Kerala and Karnataka, the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in India now stands at 56.

Other cases that were reported on Monday include one each in Bengaluru, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Punjab and two in Pune.
Tuesday morning, 58 Indians were airlifted from Iran, one of the worst affected in the world by the outbreak.
The aircraft, a C-17 Globemaster, was sent to Tehran on Monday evening.
Close to 2,000 Indians are living in Iran, a country that has witnessed increasing numbers of coronavirus cases in the last few days.

The number of deaths worldwide from the new coronavirus passed 4,000 on Tuesday, according to figures by news agency AFP, as China reported 17 new deaths. The virus has spread to over 100 countries with more than 110,000 cases of infection.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) said "the threat of a pandemic has become very real," while stressing that "it would be the first pandemic in history that can be controlled... we are not at the mercy of the virus".??
