A recent spectacle on her Instagram displayed Arshia executing an astonishing 70 kg Sumo deadlift, drawing widespread admiration online for her extraordinary capabilities. Her approach to weightlifting, treating it more like play than rigorous training, alongside her remarkable strength, has endeared her to many.
Echoing the sentiments of many, one user expressed, Ą°One Day India Will Be Proud On You.Ąą To put her achievements into perspective, another user commented, Ą°For reference, it is equivalent to a 75 kg Guy lifting 210kg.Ąą A third supporter exclaimed, Ą°Hats Off.Ąą
Arshia established herself as the youngest record-holding deadlifter in the India Book of Records at the tender age of just 6 years, 11 months, and 27 days, by lifting an impressive 45 kg on December 28, 2021. This milestone solidifies her position as a prodigious talent in the world of weightlifting.
Arshia Goswami, an 8-year-old from Sector-25 Panchkula, is not your average schoolgirl. While she enjoys painting and watching Netflix at home, her real passion lies in weightlifting. Arshia has astounded everyone by deadlifting more than double her body weight, setting an Asia record with a personal best of 60 kg. Her abilities extend to proficiently performing snatch lifts and clean-and-jerks, with Arshia playfully declaring, "Weights are my toys."
Her impressive feats have not only garnered a social media following nearing 700,000 but also attracted sponsorships from major fitness brands in India, such as MuscleBlaze and Jerai Fitness. Arshia's journey into weightlifting began during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown when she joined her parents, Avnish and his wife, in their home workout routine. Inspired by a story about a Canadian child weightlifter, Avnish introduced Arshia to light weights and a makeshift barbell, despite concerns from family and neighbours that it might stunt her growth. Avnish's research and certification in the field have shown that these fears are unfounded, as Arshia continues to grow and thrive in her unique talent.
