Like all elder tigers, Palash stopped taking any form of food for the past eight days. It is common for tigers to do so when they are extremely unwell.?
The officials of the SGNP has been doing all they can to save the tiger and are quite disturbed by his poor health. "It is normal for tigers to skip one meal daily. When Palash refused to eat the second meal, we began basic treatment. A blood test was conducted on Wednesday, which revealed that his serum creatinine value shot up to 31 mg, indicating acute renal failure," said Dr Shailesh Pethe, SGNP Veterinary Officer.?

The officials have also approached other veterinarians for assistance for Palash. "We conducted a meeting with an expert advisory committee from Bombay Veterinary College. We will implement their suggestions," Shailesh Deore, superintendent of Lion and Tiger Safari, said.
In these 13 years, Palash has fathered four tigers - Yash, Anand, Laxmi and Puja. The youngest tigress Puja died last year from blood poisoning.?
