'Science-skeptic' junior minister for education, Satyapal Singh is at it again. After claiming that Charles Darwin's theory of evolution was scientifically wrong as no one has seen ape turning into a man, the former IPS officer has now stated that mantras codified the ¡®laws of motion¡¯ much before they were framed by Isaac Newton.
The minister made the comment in a meeting of the government¡¯s highest advisory body for policymaking in education, Hindustan Times quoting the minutes of the meeting held on January 15 and 16 reported.

¡°There are mantras which codified ¡®laws of motion¡¯ much before it was discovered by the Newton. Hence it is essential that traditional knowledge must be incorporated in our curriculum,¡± said Singh.
Earlier that month, Singh a former Mumbai Police Commissioner had said that Darwin's theory of evolution was scientifically wrong and it needs to be changed in school and college curriculum.

Interestingly this is not the first time someone has tried to link ancient Indian teachings with the findings of Newton. In January Rajasthan Education Minister Vasudev Devnani had claimed that Brahmagupta II, a seventh century astronomer gave the law of gravitation 1,000 years before Newton.
Devnani is also the same person who stated that cow is the only animal that inhale, and exhale oxygen.?
