With Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) gearing up for its most ambitious mission so far, preparations for Chandrayaan-2 are in full swing. The ISRO is set to conduct a simulation test for Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft at Tamil Nadu's Mahendragiri in coming weeks.?

The bungee jump-like simulation is to test the soft landing capacity of the lander in a gravity-less situation.?
¡°To prove the ability to do the soft landing on the moon, we will do the simulation tests in a gravity-less situation. We need a set of liquid engines to control the thrust based landing. We have done the first series of tests and the first phase is very successful,¡± S. Somanath, director, Liquid Propulsion System Centre, Mahendragiri said.

Chandrayaan-2 consists of an orbiter, lander and a small rover. It will be India¡¯s first soft-landing on the Moon, and only the second such landing since the end of the Apollo and Luna missions.
The Chandrayaan-2, India's second mission to the moon is set to be launched in March this year.
