A member of the nursing staff at Delhi¡¯s AIIMS hospital fell prey to social media fraud and lost Rs 34 lakh, according to Delhi Police as per a TNN report. The accused, Muhammad Sadik, trapped her on Facebook, befriended her and then said he would marry her before duping her. He has been arrested.?
The case came out in the open when she filed a police complaint on March 5. She said he first approached her in July 2019 on social media. After she verified him through common friends, they became friends.?
After becoming friends, the accused gradually gained her confidence and came to meet her in Delhi. As per his plans, he took for a vacation and proposed her for marriage.?
Sadik then came up with a concept of having their own hotel business for a stable life. "Falling into his trap the victim transferred Rs 33,92,201 (about 34 lakh) in his account," said a Delhi Police officer associated with the investigation.?
Sources say, soon after the transfer of the money was completed, the accused started avoiding the calls of the victim.?
When the victim came to know that she had been cheated by accused Mohammad Sadik Imran on the pretext of false marriage promise, she reported the matter to police which led to his arrest.?
"A case u/s 420/406/34 IPC was at Mehrauli PS. On the basis of scientific investigation and mobile surveillance, it was established that accused Mohammad Sadiq Imran had fled to Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh. He was brought to Delhi on transit remand and produced in Saket court," said a Delhi Police officer.
