An army personnel found carrying two live grenades was on Monday arrested from Srinagar's civil airport, police said. Soon after the arrest, the man, identified as Rifleman Bhupal Mukhia, was taken to the police station in central Kashmir's Humama for interrogation.

Mukhia told the police he was carrying the grenades so he could cause a blast in the river from which he wanted to catch fish.

"Mukhia was arrested by the anti-hijacking squad at the airport,"a police officer told TOI, adding that the man is a resident of village Bhosoli Gaom in Darjeeling.
¡°We are investigating. We have sent our team to the police station. The grenade the jawan was carrying is Grenade 90. It is mostly used for exercises. The jawan's explanation is that he was carrying it to kill fish,¡± an army source told CNN-News18.
The soldier was arrested following the discovery at the outer gate of the airport, police said.
"The soldier was to board a flight to Delhi. He has been detained and lodged at the local police station for questioning," the police said.
Reacting to the arrest, former chief minister Omar Abdullah said on Twitter that the case ¡°tells a wider story of the problem of unaccounted weapons & ammo¡±.
