In a surprising turn of events, fake notes of the denomination of Rs 1,000 were still found from about 12 banks. However when asked by the Special Operation Group (SOG) sleuths the banks said that the notes were deposited earlier but they had forgotten to lodge a complaint about it.

It is worthy to note that out of the fake currency notes worth Rs 7,76,610 deposited in various private and nationalized banks across the city, 37 demonetized currency notes of Rs 1,000 were found in last three months.
Since past 3 months, fake Indian currency notes of Rs 7,76,610 was deposited in various private and nationalized banks across the city. Special Operation Group (SOG) of city crime branch has lodged an FIR and is investigating the source of fake currency notes.

According to SOG sources, 80 fake notes of the denomination of Rs 2000, 37 of demonetized currency note of Rs 1000, 741 notes of Rs 500, 2051 notes of Rs 100, 80 notes of Rs 50, 1 note of Rs 10 were found to be deposited in about 12 bank private and nationalized banks in the city.
The total number of fake notes deposited in banks in last three months is 2990.
