A man's parents recovered from COVID at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai. In gratitude, he donated 5 kilos of rice each to around 100 hospital workers.?
According to The New Indian Express, the parents were admitted in a distressed state and battled the disease in the ICU.?
¡°They were in the Covid ICU for about eight days before being discharged,¡± said Dr. E Theranirajan, Dean of the hospital.
The dean added that after they were discharged, their son donated the rice bags to the 'crystal' workers, who are in charge of sanitation and hygiene.?
"He has also said he would donate further to other unknown patients at the hospital too,¡± he added.?
Both the parents were above 70. But elderly people recovering is nothing new. The hospital has cured over 20 patients above 90. The eldest being 99.?
The dean went on to say that several families of patients have come forward with donations in the past.?
In the case of this man, he was lucky his parents made it back. COVID has caused a lot of damage for the better part of this year. In India over 92 lakh are affected while almost 135,000 people have died.?
Worldwide over 6 crore are affected and more than 14 lakh have lost their lives.
