India has reported 38,353 new cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload in the country is currently 3,86,351, which is the lowest in 140 days.?
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the recovery rate has risen to 97.45%.
Kerala on Tuesday reported 21,119 fresh COVID cases pushing the total infection caseload to 35,86,693, with the test positivity rate in the state rising close to 16 per cent.
The number of people who succumbed to the virus rose to 18,004 with 152 more deaths. As many as 18,493 people have been cured of the infection since Monday, taking the total recoveries to 33,96,184 and the number of active cases in the state to 1,71,985, a state government release said.
In the wake of a large number of re-infections in Kerala's Pathanamthitta, particularly among those who have received one dose of anti-Covid jabs, the Centre has asked the state to review the data and study whether the gap between the two doses needs to be reduced.

As Mumbai gears up for resuming suburban train services for the fully vaccinated public from August 15, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Wednesday started with an offline verification process for fully vaccinated people and issuing monthly passes at 53 railway stations.
Citizens who have completed 14 days after receiving the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine can go to the nearest railway station with a hard copy of the Final Vaccination Certificate along with proof of photo identity.
The central government on Tuesday said that 37 districts across nine states, including 11 districts in Kerala and seven in Tamil Nadu, are showing a rising trend in the average daily new COVID-19 cases over the last two weeks even as the corresponding nationwide figure continues to register a decline.

In a press conference held here on Tuesday, Health Ministry Joint Secretary Luv Agrawal said, "Only one state has till now reported a suspected death due to oxygen crisis during the second Covid wave. No other states have reported deaths due to oxygen crisis."
