Delhi University, in its attempt to reach out to students, is contemplating giving fee waivers and scholarships to students whose parents are deceased or are in no position to earn, irrespective of their social category.
Speaking to TOI, DU admission committee head Rajiv Gupta said the idea behind the move was ¡°to provide financial help so that more students can make it to the university.¡±
Delhi University, in a press conference on Thursday, announced the start of the admission process for UG students and reiterated that they were planning to provide scholarships and fee waivers to certain students.

¡°We are trying to give full scholarship or fee waiver to those students who parents are deceased or unemployed,¡± said Gupta.
Gupta explained that there will be a mechanism where the university, after the admission process is over, will ask for applications from students and verify their claims. ¡°Post verification, the needy students will be given scholarships or fee waivers accordingly,¡± the admission committee head said.
