Bengaluru Police have arrested a man, who they claim was selling drugs to customers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
The accused identified as Vikram Khileri used to transport the brown sugar, across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.?
He used to send the drug packages through courier and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses disguised as prasad from Sai Baba Temple to his friends.
According to the police, they got a credible tip off about Khileri's activities and laid a trap for him.
The cops contacted him pretending to be customers and on Wednesday made him come to Patnoolpet to deliver the contraband.
He was nabbed by the police who also seized 90 gm of brown sugar which he had allegedly concealed in a helmet, two mobile phones and Rs 6,000 cash.
According to the police, who came to Bengaluru four years ago as a construction worker has been a drug dealer for nearly two years.
In a related incident, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police had arrested three drug peddlers and seized 90 kg of ganja from them. The accused are Azam Pasha, Mastan Ali and Mohammed Abbas were arrested on after the Anti-Narcotics Wing received information that Pasha had stocked narcotics in a flat. Police raided the flat and seized the contraband. Based on the information received from him two of his associates were also arrested.
According to the police, the accused had purchased ganja from Visakhapatnam and brought it on goods vehicles to the city.
Through other small-time peddlers, they sold the ganja to students and others in Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural and other parts of Karnataka.
In the past few days, Karnataka has seen several drug busts, including some high profile once involving some actors.
So far, the case has seen the arrests of 12 people, including actors Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani.
On Wednesday, the Karnataka Police had seized 9,872 kilograms of ganja after busting a marijuana cultivation racket in the Rampura area of Chitradurga district.?
The police also arrested three people in connection with the case. However, the main accused is still at large.
