Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is today presenting her third budget amid a record economic shrinkage during a pandemic.
While presenting the Budget 2021-22, Sitharaman said that Rs 75,060 crore have been paid to farmers for wheat procurement in 2020-21.
"The government has approved the policy for stake sale in Central Public sector enterprises. It provides a clear roadmap for disinvestment in strategic and non-strategic sectors," she said.
However, Sitharaman had to face sloganeering when she mentioned that the government is committed to the welfare of the farmers.
"Our government is committed to the welfare of #farmers. The #The MSP regime has undergone a change to assure a price that is at least 1.5 times the cost of production across all commodities," said Sitharaman.
The government said the Minimum Selling Price (MSP) will continue at a steady price.
Some parliamentarians raised slogans over the contentious farm laws introduced by the Centre. "Kaale kaanoon wapas lo" echoed in the Parliament while Sithraman read out the budget.
