"By joining Army, we can serve the nation and also protect our families and take care of them as we hardly have any employment opportunities in the valley," ANI quoted a candidate who hailed from north KashmirĄ¯s Baramulla.
Another candidate said, "We cannot go outside Kashmir. This is a great opportunity for us. We wish that more vacancies are offered to us. If Kashmiri personnel will be deployed in the sensitive areas then they can talk to the people and deal with the ongoing crisis."
According to 2016 report, the unemployment in J&K is higher than the national average?as according to Economic Survey 2016, 24.6 percent of the young people with age between 18-29 years are unemployed.
The state government in its Economic Survey 2017 found out that the main reason behind high employment was? "unsupportive administrative and regulatory framework and lack of transparency."
