But residents may finally get some respite, as the Bengaluru Metro¡¯s purple line - built at a cost of Rs 363.48 crores - is now fully operational.?
Operations on Bengaluru Metro's Purple Line began today from 5am. The line spans for 42.85 kms.?
Of the two sections, one connects Baiyappanahalli with KR Pura (2.1 km) and the other Kengeri with Challaghatta (2.05 km).?
The Baiyappanahalli-KR Pura section connects the tech hub of Whitefield with Bangalore Central Business District (CBD) and beyond.?
Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Pattandur Agrahara: 10 min?
Pattandur Agrahara to Mysuru Road: 5 min?
Majestic to MG Road: 3 mins (only during morning peak hours)?
Mysuru Road to Challaghatta: 10 min?

Many people took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their views about the new metro line in Bengaluru.?
One user said that he reached office in 45 minutes, from Deepanjalinagar to Garudacharpalya, using the Purple line, whereas the same route by road used to take him 2.5 hours.?
Yet another user commented:"Started at Attiguppe : 8:45 AM. Arrived at Pattandur Agrahara : 9:38 AM. Total journey time : 53 Min. Total Fare : ?57.Was desperately waiting for this for last 3 months. Was completely fed up with Bus journey especially in the evening which used to take 2 to 2.5 hours. So happy."?
MP Tejasvi Surya wrote, "It¡¯s so nice to see people send videos of Namma Metro #PurpleLine chugging along the whole stretch, while roads are choking with traffic underneath. It¡¯s an important reminder that the answer to traffic congestion is not building more roads, but building reliable and affordable public transport infrastructure."? ?
