K Ashamma is a new police recruit in the Narsingi police station of the Cyberabad Commissionerate. The constable is giving back to society after she overcame struggles to study hard, as per a report in The New Indian Express.??
With her first salary, Ashamma bought school bags for students studying in Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust.?But there is a story behind it.
Ashamma's father died when she was 5. She was able to complete her education thanks to a foundation and donations.?
"If not for their help, I would not have been able to complete my education and be where I am today. This is a small way of giving back what I have received,¡± she said.?
Hailing from Tandur in Vikarabad district, she has no siblings. K Ramulu, her father, died when she was very young and her mother K Baswamma raised her alone.?
¡°CARE, an NGO, got to know about this and started to support me with Rs 600 every month. With that I started going to school again,¡± she added.?
¡°I had aimed to become a teacher but I enjoy my job now as it gives me the opportunity to reach out to several people, especially to those who are suffering,¡± she went on to say.?
Ashamma has worked hard to get where she is now and she is doing her bit to help others achieve their dreams. Kudos to this brave woman who also has a big heart. ??
