In a shocking incident, a woman from Hyderabad has been left with a 'mutilated' lip and a lot of physical and mental pain due to the alleged medical negligence of a dentist.
The incident that took place last year only came to light recently, following another case of medical negligence at the same hospital, that allegedly led to the death of a patient.
"At FMS Hospital in Jubilee Hills, where a patient passed away during a dental procedure due to anesthesia overdose, one of my friends too had a horrific dental treatment experience there earlier. The dentist accidentally chopped off her lip, leaving a deep depression in her mouth," Sowmya Sangam, a social media user wrote on X.
She also attacked the photo of her friend's lip, which clearly showed that a portion of it was missing.
Sowmya further elaborated on how her friend has been living with the mental and physical trauma of the incident.
"Even after more than a year, she is left with scars and is unable to fully stretch her lip. Corner of her lip is missing, preventing her from laughing or smiling widely. She is still on steroids to regain flexibility and will require further surgeries in the near future," she said.
The woman's mother, described in detail what her daughter went through, in a Google review of the hospital.
"Doctors here mutilated my daughter, harassed and threatened her. During her tooth extraction the "senior" dentist (also maxillofacial surgeon) with his assistant burnt off her mouth with their dental instruments. They assured her help after the wound healed. Said it will heal in a month, then few months which eventually turned into more than a year. We had to be patient because immediate surgery was not an option. Her life is miserable from the constant pain. When she finally expected treatment after FMS, the hospital in-charge Shekhar along with his colleagues mocked her pain and trauma and humiliated her and her father. Threatened to throw them out if they didn't leave. Told her she looks good that way and laughed at her. Harassed her with their vulgar comments," she wrote.
