The new AC railway terminal is set to become operational soon.
Sir M. Visvesvaraya terminal has a grand canopy over the station building concourse with a fully air-conditioned entrance lobby.
A well-marked parking space for 200 for four-wheelers and 900 for two-wheelers.
Passengers at the railway station will get state-of-the-art facilities like centralized AC, VIP lounges and digital real time passenger information systems on the lines of the airports.
All platforms will be connected by two subways in addition to the long, oval foot over bridge.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs 314 crore, this terminal is spread over 4,200 sqm. 50 trains can be operated from the station daily.
Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal on 13 March, 2020 tweeted, "Named after one of the foremost Civil Engineers Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, India's first centralised AC Railway terminal in Bengaluru is all set to become operational soon."
Baiyappanahalli is the third coach terminal approved in 2015-16 named after Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya.?
The terminal, built at a cost of around Rs 314 crore, was to be opened by the end of February, but due to some reasons it was delayed.
With the commencement of the terminal, more long-distance trains can be operated from Bengaluru to other metros like Mumbai and Chennai and Bengaluru will also be connected to all districts of Karnataka.
