In fact, the agency¡¯s commercial arm Antrix has managed to earn foreign exchange by selling the spare payload space on the rockets. And though the frequency of launches has gone up, the agency still has a backlog of satellites to be launched. But not for long.
A Second Vehicle Assembly Building (SVAB) is coming up at the Second Launch Pad to overcome the limitation in the number of vehicles that can be assembled and integrated in a year. The building is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year.
In addition, a third launch pad is also in the works. This will further boost ISRO¡¯s capacity to launch rockets as this pad will be able to host even larger rockets like the upcoming Unified Launch Vehicle family of rockets.
