The ongoing struggle in Kashmir is Islamic and not political, Zakir Musa the Hizbul commander who succeeded Burhan Wani has said.
In an unverified audio message posted online on Friday, the elusive militant commander warned separatists including Hurriyat Conference leaders against making Kashmir a political struggle. He questioned the separatists on why they were using religion and Mosques if Kashmir was a political issue. Musa goes on to warn the separatists against meddling in the setting up a caliphate in Kashmir.

Musa said if Hurriyat leaders wanted to do politics and become a thorn in their path, their heads will be left hanging in Lal Chowk. "Hum kafir ko chhod kar pehle aap ko latkayeingey. Lal Chowk mein inkey galey kateingey ! (Before we kill the non-believers, we'll hang you... your heads will be chopped at Lal Chowk)."
He goes on to appeal to people of Kashmir to be united in the name of Islam and not independence.
This is not the first time, Musa has drawn a distinction between politics and religion when it comes to the situation in Kashmir. In March Musa had released a video where he urged Kashmir youths to indulge in stonepelting in the name of Islam and not for independence.

He had also warned against those passing information about mujahideen to police. Last week another video had emerged online which showed the brutal torture of two Kashmiri youths for allegedly being informants, in exchange of a police job. ?
