One terrorist has been taken out and one jawan martyred during an encounter that started at Goosu village of Pulwama. Police and security forces are in the process of carrying out the operation, according to a TNN report.?
"One terrorist has been neutralised in the ongoing encounter. Operation underway," Kashmir Zone Police said.?
"Further details shall follow," police had earlier said.?
They cordoned off the village based on intelligence information about a group of terrorists hiding in a house.?
When the security forces launched an operation and were carrying out a door-to-door operation, the group opened fire. A policeman and a jawan were injured, but the jawan succumbed to his injuries. The policeman is also reportedly critical and has been rushed to a nearby hospital.?
Police sources told Times Now that there are three terrorists trapped in the area and they belong, most likely to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).?
This is the latest in a series of operations the Jammu and Kashmir police and other security agencies have undertaken in the recent past. Joint operations by security forces have resulted in neutralising 122 dreaded terrorists in the Kashmir valley this year.?
Last month, the security forces eliminated over 22 terrorists. The success of the operation also enabled the security agencies to announce that Doda district of the newly-formed union territory is now 'militancy-free'.
