As many states struggle with oxygen supplies across India in the latest surge of COVID cases, Kerala is an exception. In fact, the state has enough supply of oxygen that it is supplying it to others as well.?
Kerala sent 20,000 litres of liquid oxygen to Goa amid the widespread shortage due to rapid rise in the number of COVID patients across the country.
Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the Kerala government has facilitated the transport of 20,000 litres of liquid oxygen for COVID-19 patients.?
According to R Venugopal, Nodal officer for oxygen supply in the state, Kerala is well equipped to handle the COVID situation, as per ANI. He added that oxygen was being supplied to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.?
According to News18, Kerala's Health Minister KK Shailaja said that the 2nd wave of COVID was a challenge they were all ready for.?
She added that oxygen production had gone up from 50 litres per minute in April 2020 to 1250 litres in April 2021.?
¡°We have taken steps to increase the number of ICU beds, medical oxygen and provide vaccination. Oxygen generators are kept in eight selected hospitals and another two more oxygen generators are in the process of being kept,¡± she said.
