The Kerala Police is winning praise for their noble gesture of caring for two infants who were 'abandoned' by their drug-addict father.
According to the police, a man walked into the police station in Perumbavoor with his two children on Monday.
Police said the man was a drug addict and his wife had left him due to his addiction.
The man was left with two children, aged one and two, whom he couldn't look after.
Cops believe the two boys had been starving for days before the father took them to the police station.
As the drug-addict father appeared dangerous, cops took the children who were starving.
In a video posted on social media, cops can be seen feeding and calming down the two children, who looked malnourished and traumatised.
As the father was unable to take care of the children, they were produced before the Child Welfare Committee and later shifted to a boys' home.
The drug-addict father has also been admitted to a de-addiction center.

Civil Police Officer MR Ramya, posted at the Kozhikode Chevayur Police Station was part of the unit that recovered a newborn baby allegedly stolen by the father over a domestic dispute.
On October 29, a woman complained that her estranged husband had taken her baby away.
Upon the information that the father may have gone with the infant to Bengaluru on his way to work, police stations were informed along the Wayanad border. The Sultan Batheri Police found and detained the father travelling with the infant while checking vehicles along the border.
The police rushed the hungry and exhausted newborn to a hospital. Doctors found the infant's sugar level was low. When Ramya reached the hospital, she informed the doctors that she was a lactating mother, and she fed the infant. And in the evening, the infant was united with the mother.
Touched by her service, High Court judge Devan Ramachandran, who had seen her spontaneity to save the hungry infant, has also written a letter to the police chief appreciating her work.?
On Monday, Kerala Police Chief Anil Kant felicitated Ramya at the police headquarters and she was honoured with a certificate of appreciation.?
The police chief said that this act of compassion in treating the famished infant had enhanced the reputation of the police force.
