Social media feed these days are only filled with people¡¯s videos dancing to the tunes of singer-rapper, Drake¡¯s latest hit ¡®In My Feelings¡¯ to perform the #Kikichallenge. The challenge requires a person to get down from a moving car and dance to the song in synchronisation with the car¡¯s movement and then get back inside the vehicle.
From teenagers to grannies, even videos of cows were recorded and put up on social media platforms with the #Kikichallenge.
The challenge started after comedian Instagram user ¡®theshiggyshow¡¯, who is a widely followed comedian posted a video of himself dancing on the streets to the song. His dance moves were perfectly synced up to the lyrics. And since then the hashtag and the video went viral. So much so, that Will Smith and Sterling K. Brown to Drake himself, everyone has been copying his moves.
However, the police authorities of many countries are disappointed with the dancing stunt, advising people not to participate in the challenge after videos of many people getting hurt while performing went viral.
The challenge makes it look like a cakewalk but it isn¡¯t so. After Abu Dhabi announced the challenge as a punishable offence, police authorities of Vadodara and Mumbai also tweeted about the risk the challenge poses. Mumbai Police combined an innovative video showing how the viral trend can result in serious injuries. They spread their message with hashtag ¡®Dance Your Way To Safety¡¯.
Following suit, now we have the Bengaluru Police which has posted an official tweet saying, ¡°If you dance for #Kikichallenge on the roads, we¡¯re sure of making you dance behind the bars.¡±
¡°Kiki challenge may get you a KICK OF LAW not KICK OF DANCE¡±, the tweet read.?
The circular further says?that it is not only dangerous for the performer but fellow commuters as well, which is a clear violation of the traffic rules. It is an offence, punishable by the law. Abu Dhabi police issues warrants for violating three traffic laws, driving in a way that endangers the life of others, causing traffic, congestion and roadblocks and using a mobile phone while driving.
