Traveling by train in India is an experience that offers a unique blend of adventure, cultural immersion, and scenic beauty.?
It is to make the maximum out of India's scenic beauty that seats by the window are preferred the most.?
And the best seat undoubtedly is the side lower berth; fellow train travellers would agree. But there is one persistent issue with this seat, which the Indian Railways seems to have fixed, according to a video shared by someone who had travelled recently.??
When the two back supports of the side lower berth are closed, they create a single berth for a passenger to recline.?
However, those who travel by train frequently may have observed that?the space left between the two can often result in discomfort.
In response to this issue, the Railways has introduced an innovative solution, gaining widespread attention on the internet.?
Although the solution to this issue was incorporated in 2020, but few know of it.?
A video posted last month by a fellow traveller on Instagram had made many aware of how they could have a more comfortable ride on the side lower berth.?
As depicted in the video, adjacent to the side lower seats, there is a lengthy and slender mattress. This mattress should be taken out and positioned on top of the two lower seats, creating a unified berth that effectively addresses the issue of the gap between two berths.?
This arrangement significantly enhances comfort by providing additional cushioning that supports the back.?
Back in 2020, Piyush Goyal had tweeted the introduction of this new development by the Indian Railways to which many had remarked that it indeed was a smart and innovative design.?
In response to the recently posted video, a user commented, "Majority of them travellers (are) unaware. Thanks for exhibiting the hidden facility."?
However, others pointed out that this facility may not be available in all trains.?
"Sir sab side lower mai Nahi hota hai mai aaj he travel kar k aaya hu body pain ho raha hai side lower he the," wrote another, in agreement.?
Yet others thanked the traveller for spreading awareness. One said, "This is true .. When I came from Bhubaneswar to Delhi, it was there in the AC compartment but I didn't realise what it was meant for.. gonna give it a try next time."
