Getting inside an airport can be an irritating thing, thanks to the strict security protocols and long queues. But a man from Delhi came up with an ingenious idea, or that is what he thought to get easy access inside the airport.??
Rajan Mahbubani dressed up a pilot of Lufthansa airlines to escape long queues and security checking. On Monday, Mahbubani went to the IGI airport,? wearing a pilot's uniform and was travelling to Kolkata on AirAsia India flight.
But his con job was caught after an AirAsia staffer became suspicious about Mahbubani and contacted Lufthansa to check his credentials.
Lufthansa confirmed that the man pretending to be a pilot did not work for the airline and immediately alerted the CISF and AirAsia India teams to offload this person from the flight. He was later handed over to the Delhi Police.
Upon questioning, Mahbubani admitted that he was impersonating as a pilot to gain easy access and other benefits at airports.
He also admitted that he had procured the fake identity card of the airline in Bangkok and used it to get privileges at airports and travelled at least 15 times using the privileges.?
"The man, who lives in Vasant Kunj area of the national capital, was in possession of a fake ID card of Lufthansa Airlines captain, and he used it to get privilege at airports," a senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer said.

This included using the passage which is normally used by airline crew members for getting into the aircraft and at times even got his seat upgraded.
But what is even more intriguing is his obsession with uniforms.
According to police, Mahbubani, a resident of Vasant Kunj used to make videos of himself wearing uniforms on YouTube and TikTok.?
While examining his phone, police also found that Mahbubani had videos wearing different uniforms, including one as an Army Colonel.?
It is not clear if he has used such impersonations to gain access to other places.
This could be the first time someone has been caught for impersonating as a pilot in the airport, but there have been several cases in which people were caught with fake tickets.?
Another bizarre incident had happened in the Delhi airport in September, where a 31-year-old man from Gujarat was arrested for impersonating as an 81-year-old.?
Jayesh Patel was attempting to board a flight to New York posing himself as 81-year-old Amrik Singh.
