Meet, Rajagopalan Vasudevan,?an Indian scientist who has explored the depths of waste management.?
Vasudevan, currently a professor at Thiagarajar College of Engineering devised?a method to use plastic waste to construct better roads. These cost-effective measures are also the key reason why he was one of the many people who received?highest civilian honour Padma Shree today on Republic Day.?
This method will allow us in making roads that are much faster and will also give a boost in waste management.

"The advantage of using waste plastic for road construction is that the wear and tear of roads are decreased. Moreover, the process is easy and does not need new machinery. And this has created a new job for rag pickers. By adopting this method, the amount of waste plastic will drastically reduce." says?Prof Vasudevan, reports The Hindu.
But his tryst with innovations just did not end with plastic roads, he wanted to more. He once decided to try and create?a stone block with a plastic coating and in 2012 he made plastone,?a block made with a mixture of plastic and stone.

Prof Vasudevan's research?mainly deals with waste management specifically use of waste plastics for road construction and we are glad that his work is coming in handy at a time when we need it the most.?
