In yet another gruesome incident of sexual assault of a COVID patient, a daughter of a COVID patient took to social media after she passed away, and alleged that she was sexually assaulted while undergoing a treatment at the Paras-HMRI hospital in Patna.
The National Commission of Women (NCW) took cognizance of the alleged gangrape of a COVID positive woman in a hospital in Patna.?
NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote to Bihar Chief Secretary to give appropriate directions to District Police officials & hospital in the matter.
The woman's daughter posted a statement on social media, in which the now deceased patient was alleging that she was sexually assaulted by three to four persons at the hospital.
The woman breathed her last on Wednesday.
The 45-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital on May 15, after showing severe symptoms of COVID, and was taken to the ICU on May 16. Despite timely healthcare, the woman did not show signs of recovery and her health kept deteriorating.?
Her daughter alleged that three persons misbehaved with her, and the matter was taken up by the hospital management.
Station house officer of Shastrinagar police station, Ramashankar Singh, said, "We are verifying the allegation. "?
The hospital management has denied the claims made by the deceased woman.?
PD Gupta, Paras hospital management said, "We will extend our cooperation in all investigations and related matters of this case."
