It looks like the script of a film, but is in fact the real life story of a police constable who after a lot of struggle is happy to see his son attain success and finally becoming his boss.
It would be a proud moment for constable Janardan Singh, posted at Vibhutikhand police station, to salute his son Anoop Kumar Singh, an IPS officer, who took charge as SP in the city on Saturday.
Janardan choked with emotions when TOI asked him how he felt. But on being asked what would be his first reaction on facing his IPS son as his boss, pat came the reply, "He is first an officer, then my son. I will salute him just like I would do to greet any other officer. I will obey his orders.

My first priority would be to ensure that our relation does not influence my work in any way," he said. The son, Anoop, a 2014-batch IPS, who joined as SP (north) in Lucknow said that it would be testing time for him to face his father and being his officer.
"My father has always been my inspiration. My day starts with touching his feet in the morning. I have tried to live up to his principles," Anoop told TOI.

"He never told me to study or play but always laid stress on virtues and integrity. He always said that whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly. Even if you become a gardener, take care of every plant as if it were your own child," Anoop added.
Recalling childhood memories, the SP said, "I still remember, he used to carry me and my younger sister Madhu to our school in Barabanki on his bicycle. He worked very hard to ensure our studies continued. Despite financial crunch, he never let my studies suffer, my school fees was always paid on time and I got all the books I needed. He would go on duty and we would not meet for months, but he kept a tab on our studies and activities in school by inquiring from his peers in city," said Anoop. Both live under the same roof in Lucknow.

When TOI visited their home, Anoop¡¯s mother Kanchan and his wife Anshul were busy making preparations for Karwa Chauth while his one-yearold daughter Yashasvini was playing with her grandfather.
The family is happy because they will be celebrating Diwali together after many years.
Anoop¡¯s younger sister Madhu is married and lives in Pratapgarh.
¡°At home we are a family, there is no SP or constable. We have dinner and breakfast together on the same table,¡± said Kanchan.
¡°We never thought that Anoop would become an IPS officer. He was a good student and excelled in sports and cocurricular activities. We realised his potential when he cracked the entrance exam of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for doing masters in geography,¡± she added.
