Formally announcing the glory of JIO, Mukesh Ambani had said that it would take India from data shortage to data abundance.
1 million customers per day could easily sign up and get the SIM - in only 15 minutes.?
According to one report, shopkeepers at a Reliance store in Noida have the SIM card, but not the customer application forms. ?
On the commercial launch day, shutters were down at a high footfall shop location in Noida
This led to dozens of customers stranded, standing and looking bewildered - it hadn't even been a week since Ambani's mega announcement that had shaken the stock market prices of biggies like Airtel .
NDTV reported that "Reliance Jio has stopped handing out SIM cards so that it can activate the huge backlog that has been building up." Many who have the SIMS, the report said, are still waiting for activation for days.
This is the message reportedly being circulated to JIO dealers and employees:
"Jio Will Not Process Any Activation In Maharashtra Till Next Orders From Mr Sunil Dutt As More Than 50 Thousand Sims Already Circulated In Market Which Are Yet To Be Activated. So Plz Don't Allot Sim To Customers As It Will Lead To Headache And Will Ruin Our Goodwill. Team JIO Has Already Mailed All The Distributors And Company Employees !!!
