Unexpectedly, Kutty saw an unidentified woman carrying a luggage in one hand and a two- or three-year old child in another hand running towards the train. ¡°She managed to board the moving train, but she lost her balance. The child was dangling from her hand and about to go under the train,¡± a senior RPF official told The Times of India.

The report added that the child and woman received no injury and were saved from a life-threatening accident.
¡°I feel relieved that I got to save a life. I¡¯m grateful to God that I could save them. It was a risk, but since the life of a child was involved the risk needed to be taken,¡± said Kutty.
RPF senior divisional security commissioner Debasmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, who visited Kutty at the hospital, told TOI that they will felicitate him once he recovers. ¡°Apart from the wounds, his right leg has severe pain due to suspected ligament tear. He can¡¯t walk or move his leg¡± he said.
