Security forces gunned down two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district after a brief shooting encounter between them. "Following a brief shoot out in the orchard area of Gahand village the two militants were killed. Their exact identities and affiliations are being ascertained," an officer said.

The gunfight broke out when militants fired on the security forces was they were conducting a cordon and search operation.
Last week, two terrorists were killed in a brief gunbattle with security forces in the same district, police said. The terrorists opened fire on a patrolling party of the Army from an orchard in Shopian, following which the soldiers retaliated, a police official said.
He said two ultras were killed in the exchange of fire. The identity and the affiliation of the slain terrorists were being ascertained, the official added.
