Stepping away from home, whether to a bustling metropolis or a new country, is no small feat. The allure of independence and self-direction often comes with an undercurrent of loneliness.?
Recently, a post by a BITS Pilani alum has captured this sentiment, shedding light on the loneliness faced by techies in Bengaluru that can only come with settling in a metro city.
The post has struck a chord, going viral as it resonates with many navigating the challenges of finding community and connection in a new, bustling city.
The former BITS Pilani student recently shared a post on X expressing his concerns about the loneliness faced by techies in Bengaluru.?
He describes the situation vividly: "Most techies in Bangalore are pretty lonely. Away from family, no real friends, stuck in traffic, high rents, children not getting good values, peers into status games, cringe tech meet-ups, shoves body with coffee & alcohol, hair-loss, tummies popping out & pays highest taxes."
He adds, "It scares me even more that so many people relate with this. Consider this your wake up call & take some action fellas. Fixed 1000s of jiras but your health & family is broken?"
The post has understandably sparked a conversation on social media. One commenter reflects, "Scary to relate to some parts of it."
Another points out, "Isn't this the story of 'most' youngsters away from home in almost every city."
A third observes, "Demerits of lopsided development. Had there been fulfilling jobs in native places, they would not have stayed away from their homes."
One writes, "Very accurate description, esp. the loneliness bit. Then the anxiety due to traffic, poor infrastructure, and high rents further adds to the misery making one feel trapped and despondent inspite of a high-paying job, completely messing up your physical and mental health."
