A 55-year-old man who had been admitted into the Kalpana Chawla Medical College in Karnal as a suspected coronavirus patient, died after falling off the sixth floor of the hospital while he was allegedly trying to escape, according to police.?
Hailing from a village in Panipat, the man tied bedsheets together along with a polythene sheet and his shirt. He made a to escape the isolation ward.?
"He was admitted to the isolation ward. He tried to escape in the early hours of Monday, but fell to his death," Inspector Sanjeev Gaur of Karnal Police said, as per a PTI report.?
"In the isolation ward, he was kept in a separate room and no one noticed what he was doing at that time," said a police official.?
Gaur also added that the initial report tested negative for COVID-19 but the final one is yet to come in.?
India has already seen over 100 deaths due to coronavirus and over 4,000 people are affected. Worldwide more than 60,000 people are dead and over 12,00,000 affected. The virus which originated in China has spread all over the world.?
It is sad that people are taking such drastic action. If one tests positive, there is treatment and if one is not positive, there is nothing to worry about.
