While the harsh sound of guns continues to pollute the otherwise serene life in Kashmir Valley, the militancy and terror-infested region have won a battle against odds with the help of pen and paper. On Saturday night, the region had a reason to be happy as the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) declared the matriculation results, revealing that the average pass percentage was 75.44%.

It implies that out of the total number of 55,472 students who appeared for exams, a total of 41,846 qualified. According to JKBOSE, boys fared better than the girls with an overall pass percentage of 76.41 per cent against the girls who passed with 74.40 per cent,? ?the News18 reported.?
South Kashmir is seen as the breeding ground for militants and terrorists and the terror organisations are getting maximum recruits from this region. But the students here have done wonders with pen and paper.?
Pulwama district which has seen a maximum number of shutdowns and has remained highly prone to youth getting into militancy has topped the list with 84.50 per cent of its student qualifying the exams.

Shopian which also remains at tenterhooks most of the time came after Pulwama with 83 per cent of the student getting qualified while Srinagar, the capital district of the state remained third. In Kulgam¡¯s 80.50 per cent of the students passed the exam while Anantnag had 78 per cent of students qualifying.?
The son of slain senior journalist and Editor of the Rising Kashmir Syed Shujaat Bukhari also did well in class 10 examinations and scored 95per cent marks. NCP leader Omar Abdullah congratulated Tahmeed Bukhari. Bukhari was killed earlier this year outside his office just a day before Eid.?
With Baramulla getting 74.84 per cent, Kupwara and Bandipora also scored well with 62.92 per cent and 62.26 per cent respectively. Students in Central Kashmir's?Ganderbal scored 73.16 per cent and Budgam scored 72.79 percent.
