Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University has awarded more than maximum marks to several candidates in results of session 2017-18 declared so far. Meanwhile, the university administration has not been able to declare complete results of a majority of the courses. And in those which have been declared, a large number of errors have surfaced. On Monday, marksheets showing marks such as ¡¯70 out of 50¡¯ were widely shared on social media.

The university had failed to complete results declaration by the targeted date of June 15. The deadline for declaration of the remaining results has been extended by 15 days. The university administration claimed to have declared results for more than 70 courses out of the total 86 so far. Students complained that in a majority of the courses, the results declared are incomplete. A large number of mark sheets have errors related to name, parent¡¯s name, marks awarded and other details.
According to her mark sheet uploaded on the university¡¯s website, BSc part 1 student Bharti Verma has been awarded 70 marks out of 50 in physical education. Another student, Nisha Prajapati, has been awarded 68 marks out of 50 in the same subject. Anjali Dhaked has received 67 marks.
Result of a BSc part 3 student mentions that he has received 38 marks in mathematics as aggregate of three papers out of total 150. To pass the course he had to score 53 marks. But his mark sheet mentioned that he has secured second division marks.?
A BSc part 1 student has been awarded 57 marks out of 200 in mathematics. The minimum marks required to qualify the exam is 70. But the student has passed the exam according to the online mark sheet.

Former National Students Union of India general secretary Amit Singh said, ¡°Following lack of proper management, the university administration is declaring results in haste. University officials want to somehow close the session to avoid any questioning from university chancellor (governor of Uttar Pradesh) Ram Naik. In several courses only 20-30% of students have received their results. A large number of results declared have errors in them. Now students will be forced to pay for correction of these errors.¡±
¡°When students can be awarded more than maximum marks, they can also be awarded lower marks by mistake. A large number of students are complaining that they wrote their exams well but have been declared to have failed or awarded just passing marks. The university administration has failed to fulfill its basic duties,¡± Singh added.
University public relations officer GS Sharma said, ¡°Cases of errors in results have surfaced. Some of them have been corrected. All such cases will be sorted out in a time-bound manner.¡±
