There may be bad news for those having flights out of Delhi in the next few days. The G20 2023 is set to be held in Delhi on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10. Due to this, many flight cancellations have been reported.?
IndiGo on Wednesday said passengers have been notified about flight cancellations at the Delhi airport in connection with G20 Summit.?
Earlier on August 26, DIAL, which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), said it had received requests from airlines for the cancellation of 80 departing and as many arriving domestic flights during three days from September 8.?
Though IndiGo did not provide details about the number of flights that are likely to be affected, the airline said in a statement that: "Due to the G20 Summit 2023 taking place in New Delhi, IndiGo is offering one-time waivers for passengers travelling to and from Delhi between September 8 to 11, 2023."?
The statement added, "Customers are being offered the option of rescheduling or cancelling their flights with refunds. Passengers have been notified about flight cancellations and to schedule changes in advance."?
TOI reported that airlines are making adjustments to their flight operations, and select flights are being cancelled or rescheduled. One of the officials said that around 120 flights are likely to be impacted during the September 8-10 period.?
Preparations for the G20 Summit to be held this weekend in Delhi are on at full swing. The heads of state and diplomats of many countries are set to come to India to participate in the meeting.?
The entire New Delhi district will be a 'Controlled Zone-I' while the area inside Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Marg) will be considered a 'Regulated Zone' from 5 am on Friday till midnight on Sunday.?
The police have said that passengers travelling to the airport, New Delhi and Old Delhi railway stations may experience some delays due to traffic restrictions.?
To reach the airport, the Delhi Traffic Police recommends using the Airport Express Line of the Delhi Metro and, for all other railway stations, to use the Delhi Metro in general.? ??
