In another appalling case which presents the abysmal state of women security in India, a 35-year-old woman in Deoria, UP was set ablaze after she resisted rape attempt by a local youth on Saturday morning.
The police said that the woman had gone to attend nature's call with her two minor children when a man allegedly tried to rape her.?

After woman started shouting for help, the man allegedly poured petrol on her and set her on fire. The woman suffered 90 percent burns and the children who tried to save their mother by dousing the fire, have also suffered burn injuries. All three of them are in the?hospital and receiving treatment, told doctors.
The accused whose name is Rajbhar alias Tarzon is at large.

The police said that in her statement to the police, the victim said that the accused had tried to molest her earlier as well and she had lodged her complaint but the police didn't act.
A case under Sections 376 (punishment for rape), 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) and 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) has been lodged and two teams have been formed to search for the accused, a police official told News 18.
