Schools have reopened across north Indian states on Monday after the summer vacation, and as students go back to their classes, they also have to submit their assignments, project work, and holiday homework. But if you are a parent, or if you have a school-going kid in the family or friendship circle, you know very well that more often than not, the holiday homework is beyond the grasp and abilities of the students, and most of the time, their parents end up doing it for them.
A video has gone viral on social media featuring a mother ranting about her child's holiday homework, which most parents say is relatable.
"All teachers know very well that the projects and homework that they have given will not be done by the students but by their parents. They are doing it on purpose so that the parents can't go on a vacation," the woman said in the video.

The woman, who can be seen seated among what looks like the holiday homework of her child, further said that students should be given homework based on what they can do.
"My request to all teachers is that please only give homework that the students can do themselves," she said.
Many on social media agreed with her and pointed out that students are being overburdened with homework and projects during holidays when they are supposed to take a break from their studies.

"Pointless assignments which don¡¯t add anything to a student's learning," one person wrote.
"Parents end up doing all the homework and teachers know that. Our education system needs a complete overhaul and training of teachers on what to give and not to give for homework," added another person.
"The 4th standard girl in my neighborhood has got homework to make a PPT presentation about Generations of Computer. And the school assumed that all the 200-300 students of 4th standard have a computer at home and know how to use PPT. I am making her project," wrote another person.
Many also argued that students up to Class VIII should not even be given homework.
