Ashok Raghuvanshi, father of the late Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, has alleged that his daughter-in-law Sonam may have been involved in practices related to black magic. According to him, Sonam once instructed Raja to hang a bundle at the entrance of their house, claiming it would protect them from the evil eye.
Following Raja¡¯s death, the bundle was removed, leading Ashok to believe that this may have been a part of something more sinister. He told PTI, ¡°After Raja's murder, I feel Sonam believes in tantra mantra and she used it on my son.¡± He also stated that those responsible should face the strictest punishment.
Raja and Sonam had been married on May 11. After spending just four days at her in-laws' house, Sonam went back to her maternal home as per tradition. According to Raja¡¯s mother Uma, the family had sent her off happily. ¡°If I ever meet her,¡± she said, ¡°the only thing I will ask is why did she get my son killed.¡±
On May 20, the newlywed couple left for their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Just three days later, on May 23, both of them went missing. Raja¡¯s body was discovered on June 2 in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra (Cherrapunji), East Khasi Hills.
Meghalaya police arrested Sonam (25), her alleged partner Raj Kushwah (20), and three of his friends in connection with the murder. Sonam was later found at a dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. The case is being closely investigated by state authorities.
Speaking to PTI, Meghalaya DGP Idashisha Nongrang stated that investigators are not viewing the case through a single motive. ¡°We are looking at more angles,¡± she said, adding that it¡¯s unusual for someone to develop such animosity just days after marriage.
As the police dig deeper, multiple motives are being considered in the chilling murder of Raja Raghuvanshi.
