While the specifics were not revealed by Manchester United, British media reports indicate that the transfer cost the club 72 million pounds ($92 million).
"It is no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy, and I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player," said Hojlund.?
"Once I had spoken to the manager, I knew that this environment would be perfect for my development; I am relishing the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches in the world," he added.?
Hojlund had earlier played for FC Copenhagen and Sturm Graz and went to Atalanta when the 2022-23 season began. The Dane scored 9 goals for them.?
For the national side, he scored six goals in four games.?
United were in need of a striker.?
Manager Erik ten Hag hopes Hojlund scores goals. One other talent the Dane possesses is holding the ball up which would provide attacking midfielders like Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount chances to convert.?
"Working under Erik ten Hag and his coaches will provide Rasmus with the perfect development platform," said Manchester United football director John Murtough.?
"Throughout the summer we have acted quickly and decisively to secure our primary targets early in the transfer window. This will ensure that Erik and his coaches have the best opportunity to prepare the squad to push for further success in the exciting campaign ahead," he added.?
Hojlund is United's third signing of the transfer window after Mount from Chelsea and goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.?
United ended up in 3rd place in the 2022-23 season and earned a place in the UCL. Earlier in 2023, United won the League Cup. ????
