Following the grand celebrations during the victory lap event at Wankhede Stadium, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma received a hero's welcome upon his return home. Indian captain Sharma was welcomed with a roaring salute from his Mumbai Indians teammate Tilak Varma, along with his childhood friends.
The Indian team had been stuck for three days in Barbados due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl before finally arriving in Delhi on Thursday, July 4.
As they returned, the World Champion squad was offered a grand reception in India. After being hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a special breakfast, the squad then travelled to Mumbai, where the BCCI set up an open-top bus parade, allowing fans to see their favourite players up close.
Subsequently, after the BCCI event was wrapped up, Rohit Sharma met with friends at his home.
In a video that went viral, Tilak Varma could be seen saluting Indian captain Rohit Sharma along with his childhood friends and Sharma¡¯s brother Vishal. Like Rohit lifted the trophy when he won the World Cup, the group lifted Rohit high in the air in a joyful manner. As he walked into his house, Sharma was received by a carpet of flower petals.
